2010-2011 Snack Policy
Because we want the children at our school to be the healthiest that they can be, St. Timothy’s Preschool is teaming up with the HyVee on Grand Avenue in West Des Moines to provide your child with a healthy, balanced snack at each class. This cost was not figured into the 2010-2011 tuition, so we will charge a snack fee to offset the added cost of providing daily, healthy snacks.
Each day we will offer the choice of white milk or water, along with two items from different food groups. Sometimes your child’s class will have the opportunity to help prepare the snack! A monthly snack calendar will be distributed so that you are aware of the snack each day.
We will offer fresh produce as it is in season and canned produce when it is out of season. The breads will contain whole grains. We’ll provide fresh cheeses and yogurt, and will avoid foods heavy with preservatives, artificial ingredients, and high-fructose corn syrup.
Our snacks will not contain peanuts or tree nuts, nor will they be snacks made on equipment or in the same facility with peanuts or tree nuts. If your child has an allergy to any other food products (dairy, eggs, wheat, etc.) please make sure to fill out an allergy plan and we will accommodate this allergy.
The snack fee for each child is $55.00 for the year. This total was calculated using the cost you would have incurred providing the snack for your child’s class, multiplied by how many times you would have purchased the snack throughout the year. Please let the Preschool Director know if you have any questions or concerns about this fee.
